Understanding the lifecycle of an infrastructure is vital to understanding the functionality of the Grid Gateway. The lifecycle state impacts the behavior of most elements in the Gateway. Elements behave differently in various states and not all actions are available in each state. |
The lifecycle of an infrastructure is composed of distinct states:
Design - the initial state of the infrastructure lifecycle
Standby - the state where an infrastructure is waiting for validation from Grid Operations or for the user to respond to an inquiry or request from Grid Operations
Pending - the state where an infrastructure is either transitioning or waiting to transition to another state
Active - the state where an infrastructure is fully provisioned and either live or ready to be live momentarily
Inactive - the state where an infrastructure has been removed from Active status and un-provisioned
Note: All infrastructures begin in the Design state and end in the Inactive state, from where they are deleted.
