Design Best Practices

This document offers best practices as methods proven to optimize success and efficiency in accomplishing various activities, such as infrastructure building, monitoring, etc.

A best practice provides a higher-level tactical approach to optimize success and use of time. It's a technique or methodology that, through experience and research, has proven to reliably lead to a desired result.

Infrastructure Development Cycle

It helps to understand the way a typical infrastructure develops. The summary below tells what to expect when building your infrastructure and working with your Grid Operations to bring your infrastructure live.

  1. Plan your infrastructure (Design state).

  2. Build and wire the Infrastructure using the Grid Gateway (Design state).

  3. Complete pre-activation configuration using the Gateway (Design state).

  4. Submit the infrastructure to your Grid Operations for validation using the Gateway (Pending state).

  5. Your Grid Operations reviews the design (Pending state), and keeps you informed during the validation phase via email.

  6. Your Grid Operations validates the infrastructure design (Pending state).

  7. Your Grid Operations activates the infrastructure (Active state).

  8. Complete post-activation configuration and activities using the Gateway and working with Grid Operations (Active state).
