Each of the network devices is configurable through the Gateway. Common fields used in most configuration dialogs are shown in the table below.
To reach the configuration dialog box for an element, right-click the element, and select Configure. |
The following table shows common configuration dialogs:
Configuration Dialog Field |
Description |
Name |
Every element has a name that is configurable through its configuration dialog. Element names must be valid DNS names. When an element is changed, the element in the Infrastructure Display Area changes after the dialog box closes. The name field can only be changed when the element is in the Design state of the infrastructure lifecycle. See other naming limitations given in DNS naming conventions. |
Default Gateway |
The Default Gateway is available in the server group, load balancer, and firewall configuration dialogs. The default gateway sets an IP address on one of the local subnets to be the default gateway for the device. The user can select from a list of interfaces or select None. If a device is on the external subnet, then it will default to the external router for the infrastructure unless another device is selected as the default gateway. |
Notes |
The notes field is a user convenience feature to keep notes about the element and share information about that element with other users in the same account. The notes can be altered in any infrastructure lifecycle state and can contain any character. |
OK button |
Accepts the changes made to the element in the configuration window and close the window. Those changes are reflected in the parent window as soon as the window closes. |
Cancel button |
Closes the configuration dialog and discards any changes entered. |
