Configure an element

The procedure for configuring an infrastructure element can vary depending on the element involved. Basic configuration steps are shared by all elements, but each type of element has a unique configuration dialog screen with element-specific settings.

The basic procedural steps are given below and links to element-specific steps follow.

Basic Configuration Steps

  1. With the infrastructure open in Editor, right-click on the element and select [Configure].
A configuration dialog opens that is specific to the type of element.

  2. Make the configuration settings by entering data or selecting from the dialog's drop-down lists and radio buttons.

  3. Name the element (element naming can only be done in the design state). If no name is specified, default names are given, for example, Balancer1, Balancer2, to each subsequent element added.

  4. When you're finished making settings, click [Apply] to temporarily save your settings.
The [Apply] button does not permanently save them or make them active. It allows you to move on to configure other elements within that infrastructure without losing the settings on each element.

  5. When you're ready to save the settings you've made, click [Save the Changes] at the left-hand side of Editor.

Important: Changes are not affected globally across the infrastructure until you click [Save the Changes]. If you leave Editor without clicking [Save the Changes], all settings you've made and applied will be lost.
