General Purpose Server - This icon represents a server or a server group (tier) of up to eight servers. There is no distinction between a single server and a tier of servers. The upper interface (eth0) is incoming. The lower interface (eth1) is outgoing.
All servers are provided with a single 9 GB boot volume at no additional charge. The user has the option of adding up to six additional direct attached volumes, sized 9 to 900 GB each. See further details under Storage Services. |
Follow these steps to configure a server:
Open the infrastructure that contains the server in the Editor. [Tell me how]
Right-click the server icon you want to configure, and that server's Configure Server dialog appears. [Show me]
Starting at the upper left-hand side of the dialog, complete the following fields:
In the Name field, enter a meaningful name for the server (this must be done during design). If no name is specified, default names are given, for example, Server1, Server2, to each subsequent element added.
From the Type drop-down list, select a server type.
From the Def. Gateway drop-down, select a device as the default Gateway. [Tell me more]
In the Notes field, enter any relevant notes or comments.
In the Local Storage section of the dialog, do the following to apply the software image:
Check the Backup box to have the disk's boot drive (Disk 0) backed up.
From the Image dropdown list, select the type of software image you want for Disk 0.
Click [Add Disk] to add additional disks.
Check the Backup box to select backup for that disk.
From the Image drop-down list, select the type of software image you want for the disk. You can select from all the combinations of images in your account-wide library of images.
Repeat steps 6-8 for each subsequent disk.
For Multi-Tier Servers (Server Groups), in the Server Group section of the dialog, do the following:
In
the Server Count field, change
the number to how many servers you want, and then click outside the field.

The Server Group area will update to show the new server count.
